AMACS FIREARM LICENCE COURSE: 23-28 SEPTEMBER 2026

The next AMACS Firearms Licence Course shall be held between the 23rd and the 30th of September 2026. If you would like to apply for a Target Shooter Licence A/B and want to be thoroughly prepared for the Weapons Board interview, this is THE course for you!

SESSION 1 – FIREARMS, SAFE FIREARMS HANDLING & NSPS

Wednesday 23 September at 18:00h (AMACS HQ, Tigne’ Point)

  • Basic introduction to firearm types, characteristics & parts
  • Correct physical handling of firearms
  • Practicing NSPs until the correct procedure in acquired
  • Self-discipline and alertness when handling firearms
  • Observing the rules and following the RCOs instructions

 

SESSION 2 – THE RANGE EXPERIENCE

Saturday 26 September at 08:30h (Victoria Range, Siggiewi)

 

  • Putting the theory into practice under range conditions
  • Shooting of firearms (eye & ear protection will be provided)
  • Assessment (50% of the final mark required to achieve a Pass)

SESSION 3 – AMACS AND MALTESE ARMS LEGISLATION

Monday 28 September at 19:00h (LSB Armoury, Santa Venera)

 

  • Chapter 480 of the Laws of Malta (Arms Act 2005)
  • Subsidiary Legislation 480.02 (Arms Licensing Regulations)
  • Firearm types and the three Schedules they fall under
  • Licence types and the firearms that may be kept and used
  • Conditions required to apply for a licence
  • The licensee’s legal obligations

 

SESSION 4 – WRITTEN TEST AND QUALIFICATION

Wednesday 30 September at 18:00h (AMACS HQ, Tigne’ Point)

 

  • The law: obligations and responsibilities of the licensee
  • Written test of 10 questions (50% of the final mark)
  • Assessment: at least 75% required to qualify
  • Presentation of Certificates of Recommendation
  • Guidance on submitting the application
