Meeting for all Shooters and Collectors – Thursday 3rd December

EU COMMISSION?S PROPOSALS FOR CHANGES TO THE ARMS DIRECTIVE – a grave threat to all legal firearms owners

The Commission is using the terrorist attacks in Paris as a pretext to hurriedly push through a series of drastic measures that were drafted by the Firearms Task Force over the past months. If adopted as changes to the current Arms Directive, these measures would have to be introduced into the Maltese Arms Act with the result that, among others:

1. All semi-auto firearms resembling automatic firearms would be banned. AR and AK style rifles would have to be confiscated and destroyed. This also applies to replicas such as airsoft guns. Moreover pistols with large magazine capacities would also be banned;

2. All automatic firearms would have to be confiscated and destroyed. Only museums may keep automatics provided that they are deactivated;
This senseless destruction and the damage to owners would be all for nothing as these measures would not in any way hinder or stop the criminal trafficking of illegal firearms!

A CALL TO ACTION!

AACTS and AMACS are taking the initiative to invite all licensed target shooters and collectors to a meeting that is being held at 1900 hrs on Thursday 3rd December at the Portomaso suite at the Hilton. The hall is limited to 200 seats that are available on a first come first served basis.
This invitation is open to all clubs and/or their members. The objective is to set up a common front against these insensible proposals. Your attendance is vital!

In the meantime:

1. Sign the petition below which so far has attracted just over 200,000 signatories. This is not enough ? there are close to 10 million firearm owners within the EU. Malta has topped the per capita response but our figure is still short of the figure of firearm owners in Malta. If you know hunters chase them. We supported them in their hour of need and we expect their full support now.

2. Fill in the EU survey and protest about the proposed changes. Write your own individual comments (otherwise repeated messages will lead to disqualification) in a concise, hard but polite manner.
