CL-A & CL-A SPECIAL COURSE: 22-29 SEPTEMBER & 1 OCTOBER

Do you have a passion for firearms and their history and would like to start building a collection? Then you would need a Collector Licence A. Alternatively, you may already possess this licence and you would like to upgrade it to a Collector Licence A Special to be able to acquire and keep Schedule I firearms. This course will prepare you and give you the confidence to attend the Weapons Board interview.

 

SESSION 1 – Monday 22nd September at 19:00h (LSB Armoury, Santa Venera)

Introduction to AMACS and the Arms Law it ushered in

  • AMACS and its affiliated clubs, their function and activities
  • Chapter 480 of the Laws of Malta (Arms Act 2005)
  • Subsidiary Legislation 480.02 (Arms Licensing Regulations)
  • Firearms types and the three Schedules they fall under
  • Licence types and the firearms that may be kept and used
  • Conditions required to apply for a licence and the licensee’s obligations

 

SESSION 2 – Monday 29th September at 19:00h (LSB Armoury, Santa Venera)

Familiarisation with Firearms History

  • An appreciation of firearms historical and cultural significance
  • Handling and identifying original historical firearms
  • Resources for researching firearms
  • Conservation methods for firearms
  • Security measures for storage and display
  • Selecting your favourite topic for the WB interview

 

SESSION 3 – Wednesday 1st October at 18:00h (AMACS HQ, Tigne’ Point)

Written Test and Qualification

  • The law and the obligations and responsibilities of the licensee:
  • Written test of 10 questions (50% of the final mark)
  • Assessment of the marks: at least 75% required to qualify
  • Presentation of Letters of Recommendation
  • Guidance on submitting the applications to the Police

If you are not yet an AMACS member, simply follow this process:

  1. Download the AMACS 2025 Membership Application Form (MAF)
  2. Download the Malta Police Health Certification Form (HCF)
  3. Fill in the AMACS form and select MLASC, MLBSC and the Insurance Cover
  4. Visit your medical doctor to sign the MAF and the HCF
  5. Apply for a Police Good Conduct certificate
  6. Visit the AMACS office and hand in the above listed documents to sign up
  7. Book the course that you would like to attend and pay the fee.
