
NEXT AMACS TSL-A/B SHOOTING COURSE
If you would like to apply for a Target Shooter Licence A/B and want to be sure that you are thoroughly prepared for the Weapons Board interview, this is THE course for you!
SESSION 1 – Wednesday 28th May at 19:00h (AMACS HQ, Tigne’ Point)
Firearms, safe firearms handling & NSPs
- Basic introduction to firearm types, their characteristics and parts
- Correct physical handling of firearms
- Practicing NSPs until the correct procedure in acquired
- Self-discipline and alertness when handling firearms
- Observing the rules and following the RCOs instructions
SESSION 2 – Saturday 31st May at 08:30h (Victoria Range, Siggiewi)
The Range Experience
- Putting the theory into practice under range conditions
- Shooting of firearms (eye & ear protection will be provided)
- Assessment (50% of the final mark required to achieve a Pass)
SESSION 3 – Monday 2nd June at 19:00h (LSB Armoury, Santa Venera)
Introduction to AMACS and the Arms Law it ushered in
- AMACS and its affiliated clubs, their function and activities
- Chapter 480 of the Laws of Malta (Arms Act 2005)
- Subsidiary Legislation 480.02 (Arms Licensing Regulations)
- Firearms types and the three Schedules they fall under
- Licence types and the firearms that may be kept and used
- Conditions required to apply for a licence and the licensee’s obligations
SESSION 4 – Wednesday 4th June at 18:00h (AMACS HQ, Tigne’ Point)
Written Test and Qualification
- The law and the obligations and responsibilities of the licensee:
- Written test of 10 questions (50% of the final mark)
- Assessment of the marks: at least 75% required to qualify
- Presentation of Letters of Recommendation
- Guidance on submitting the applications to the Police

If you are not yet an AMACS member, simply follow this process:
- Download the AMACS 2025 Membership Application Form (MAF)
- Download the Malta Police Health Certification Form (HCF)
- Fill in the AMACS form and select MLASC, MLBSC and the Insurance Cover
- Visit your medical doctor to sign the MAF and the HCF
- Apply for a Police Good Conduct certificate
- Visit the AMACS office and hand in the above listed documents to sign up
- Book the course that you would like to attend and pay the fee.
