A group of thirty-four sports shooters from the Malta Rifle & Pistol Shooting Club (MRPSC) visited the ATS range close to Caltagirone, Sicily on Sunday 21 April. The Club is affiliated with the Association of Maltese Arms Collectors & Shooters (AMACS)

This was the largest group of Maltese and Gozitan shooters ever to have visited the ATS range. The group was led by AMACS President Stephen Petroni and hosted by Federazione Siciliana Tiro Sportivo President Salvo Petta and range operator Franco Pernice. AMACS Committee members Sandra Pace and Harold Farrugia were responsible for logistics and firearm licensing procedures together with AMACS CEO Franco Piccinino.

Members participated in various sports shooting disciplines including dynamic pistol (IPSC), conventional pistol (25m) and rifle (100m), some achieving remarkable scores. This was an excellent occasion to familiarise Maltese enthusiasts with range procedures in Sicily ahead of the licensing of the first private ranges in Malta.

This memorable occasion will be followed up with another shooting towards the end of July.

AMACS is commemorating its 25th anniversary with a series of events throughout 2010.
